Edible Veggie Plant Tablescape
Get kids to eat their veggies while the Turkey cooks. Parents will love you and you’ll be the ultimate Gracious Host. Plant raw veggies in plant pots (lined with a plastic bag) and filled with brown rice, which is topped with black rice. The black rice on top looks like soil. Leave green stems and leaves on carrots and other veggies, so kids can use the greens to pull the vegetables out of the soil. Serve a light vinaigrette in a pitcher that kids can use to water their plants, which flavors the rice and raw vegetables. Want instructions on making this Edible Plant centerpiece? Comment on this post. Always assign a fun, responsible adult to any Kids’ Table and never sit a Tween or Teen at the Kids’ Table or they will hate you forever.
Another healthy edible option for the Kids’ Table. Use an assortment of colorful raw vegetables stuffed into a cornucopia basket and overflowing onto the table, then add a dip. Even adults will sneak a veggie. Make soup with any leftover vegetables. For an easy cleanup, use paper plates and napkins, plastic cups, and Disposable Wooden Cutlery. (Love that stuff.) Use brown paper for a table cloth & give kids gel pens/crayons to draw on the paper.
Jenga Game Tweens’ & Teens’ Tablescape
Jenga will keep Tweens/Teens entertained. Yes, those Jenga pieces may land in the mashed potatoes, but who cares, kids will be happy, and you can clean off the Jenga pieces later. With Jenga, the Tweens’/Teens’ Table may just be where the action is. Make sure you have a fun, responsible adult at the Tweens’/Teens’ Table to keep the Tweens/Teens safe, under control, and to ensure that there’s ABSOLUTELY NO EATING, THROWING, ETC. OF THE JENGA PIECES!!!
The Orange Pitcher pictured is a synthetic crystal pitcher from Italy, now available online in many colors at Mario Luca Giusti Synthetic Crystal. Love this line!
