My brother and sister-in-law’s Catahoula, Nicely Dunn, knows his Humans don’t like to travel, get cranky after a long car ride and a ferry ride, and are stressed being in a new environment, so he takes special care of them. Here’s what Nicely has to say. First, I make sure my Humans bring a nice Hostess Gift. I wake up early everyday and take my Humans on a long walk to wear them out, so they come back hungry, and cook a nice breakfast for the rest of Humans, which the Host Human loves.
I take my Humans to the beach even though I don’t like to swim and hate the water. To keep them entertained, I run close to the water’s edge, so my Humans chase me, which they like a lot. I make sure my Humans’ clothes get soaking wet because they apparently like that too, but I stay dry because I’m quick.
I also dig in the sand and get my paws really sandy, so my Humans will remember to rinse off their own feet when they rinse my paws before they go back in the house. Our Host Humans can be a bit Type A when we all have sandy feet.
I also let my Humans sleep alone in the Big Bed, but I like to pretend that I am going to jump up on their bed, just to watch my Humans TOTALLY freak out. This is so fun because I know better than to jump on the Big Bed, “I’m a Gracious Dog,” “I’ve got manners,” and “I want to get invited back.”
When I try and jump up on the bed, my Humans use that mean voice and say, “Nicely No,” and sometimes I even get “The Finger,” which is just hilarious. My Humans like to think they’re in charge, so I give them them my best “On, no. I’m in big trouble now” look and they order me to sleep in my new Travel Dog Bed , all by myself, which is Really Awesome.
Finally, I never drink out of the toilet, my Human’s don’t do it so why would I, I’ve got a water bowl. What is wrong with this picture? Man, that “Cat” will NEVER get invited back.
